Focus Areas

Professionals from the wide variety of Plastic Free Waters partner organizations join forces on seven different working groups to address the challenges posed by different plastic materials. Our working groups include university researchers, communication specialists, community organizers, and others that focus on seven distinct areas— microplastics, single-use plastic bottles, plastic bags, cigarette butts,  single-use take-out containers, plastic straws, and balloons.

Our workgroups act collectively on timely initiatives including outreach, joint actions, streamlining of data collection protocols, and pooling resources for the benefit of urgently needed action on policy, research, and upstream solutions to reduce plastics from entering waterways.
